Day 301 ~ Cake For Breakfast!

After filling up at the Mandarin last night for dads birthday, no one was hungry for cake when we arrived back home.
Since today is his actual Birthday, We had cake after a big family breakfast.
The kids thought having cake that early in the day was pretty cool!

Day 300 ~ Happy 60th Birthday Dad

My dads actual birthday is tomorrow.
Today was the surprise party! Such a good sport, he wore the hat all day and night. Can your believe he even wore it to the Mandarin for dinner, and shopping at Chapters after.

Today I had the pleasure of moving 2 skids worth of pellets for the stove. Rona delivered and I stacked them in the garage.

Devon came home with an ouchy today. When Nolan asked him what happen he told him it was a blood bug. He had poor Nolan thinking all night that daddy had a bug under his skin, drinking his blood. lol

So my husband answers a call from a phone solicitor and agrees to this survey. Everyone in our home has to keep track of what they watch on TV for a week.
A side from being time consuming, I'm the only one actually filling these forms out for everyone.

Day 292 ~ Skeleton Cookies

Gearing up for Halloween.
These are Chocolate Cake Mix cookies. Cut out with a Gingerbread Man cookie cutter.

Here's the recipe.
1 Box of Devil's Food cake mix
1/3 cup of shortening
1/3 cup butter, softened
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 egg
Mix all ingredients together at once. Divide dough in half. On lightly floured surface, roll each half 1/4 inch thick. Cut with cookie cutters. Place on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 6-8 minutes @ 375.
Decorate with white icing.

Day 272 ~ Taffy Apples

My Aunt Betty stopped by for a visit and to show me the secret to making her famous Taffy Apples. Aunt Betty has been making these yummy morsels for 40 years now. I'm honoured to have been taught the secrets and handy tips to successfully make them! After our trip to the apple orchard I will try my first solo batch. Probably not till next weekend.

While the kids were building their ramps a few weeks back (Day 135), they 'miss placed' Devon's hammer. It turned up today. Not looking so good. Oh, the adventures of a hammer.
While Devon was angry, at the same time he now realizes how much he must have frustrated his father 'miss placing' his tools.
